One of the largest societal problems across the globe in my opinion, begins at an individual level. How we as humans perceive ourselves, how society has trained us to see ourselves. Our actions, words, and thoughts all filter through the lens of our personal perceptions. As women, not only has society placed a box around the roles we are supposed to fill, but there is also a box around the literal physical form we are supposed take up. I along with almost every woman I know, has been in a battle between herself and how society wants her to be. It is a modern phenomenon to be accepting of all women, of all bodies as they are, although many are still scarred from before and those who have not yet joined the new wave. Personally, I need to be constantly reminded, throughout my house, my phone, my words, I constantly remind myself that I and everyone I know accepts who I am. For those like me, my project mimics my own brain. Change does not emerge without constant care and work. I hope that with the help of my twitter bot other women will ingrain the words into their minds and absorb the words into their bodies from their screen just as I have. Changing the media we take in is the first step toward believing in and loving ourselves. With an affirmation every few hours, it is time to not flinch at notifications reminding us of what we should be but as a reminder that we are enough and are ready to tackle the world with confidence.
P.S. The five images attached each have a person/s that have helped me through my journey of loving myself and therefore were my inspiration. Not only have they inspired me to be my truest self but have inspired me to be the role they played in my life for someone else.
