For as long as I can remember, art has been my preferred mode of expression. My grandmother who had passed before I was born was a Painter. While growing up, my dad saw many similarities between his mother and me so from a young age, he encouraged me to explore my abilities. Painting is where my artistic journey began. From art class where I painted in middle school, I graduated to high school where I began my drawing career. In experimenting with different mediums, I fell in love with journaling and collage. While painting and drawing are my roots, I found I am drawn to less classical art forms. When entering college I knew doing art was a facet of myself I never wanted to lose, hence my minor in Studio Art. The studio art classes I’ve taken have kept my artistic flame alive although, with the rise of digital art, my interests began to shift. I have found digital art intimidating due to the multitude of platforms and softwares it embodies. Illustrator is the software I have worked with the most and have learned to love. Although it is the sole mode of digital art I am comfortable with up to this point in time, I also loved creating glitch art in Digital Art 1. I have always created my art for myself, in hopes of revealing what I really feel or want to articulate when the words aren’t there. Learning to use procreate is my newest endeavor. I am looking forward to improving my skills as I feel it is a happy medium between drawing with a utensil and the digital art world.
